LMC Tail lights wiring?
I have a 1982 Ford F 100 Shortbad Flareside. Just swapped the old 255 for a 351W with a Edelbrock performer intake and 600cfm performer carb. truck runs fine and now I´m adressing other issues.
I have no glue about wiring and therefore have to ask forgiveness for stupid questions.
My old taillights were shot, so I bought new ones from LMC. These little pieces come ready, but have a black, a red and a white wire instead of the wiring colors of the Ford harness.
This is on the passenger side. Just put fast connectors on to play around, but was not successful (of course not!)
A PO had put some new wires on for the passenger side. Driver side is pretty bad and was not working when I bought the truck. When I switch on the running light and put the red tester of the multimeter to the brown cable (middle one, colors are no good on that pic) and the black tester to a ground, I get power (nearly 12V when engine is running, less when engine is off). As soon as I connect the other two (Red - black and white - green) the turnsignal works. But no backup light of running light.
This is how the wiring looks on the driver side. Spliced in replacements, two ground cables hanging around, not being connected to anything...
Can you guys help me figuring out, which cable has to be connected to what and where should I connect the ground wires.

The passenger side light was working before I started the resto, but is now too long ago since I was focused on frame recoating and engine swap.
Thanks for all the help. You can see the progress of my work on my thread about my truck resto...
You have 3 functions and 3 wires, so they all must do something along with a ground. Of course the white light is the backup, the brighter red is the brake/turn and the dimmer red is the running light.
The ground may be a problem. I see you have everything painted up. I am not sure you have a good ground through your light mounting bracket. It you want to test it, move the charger lead off the silver lense screw, and clip the charger ground to the truck frame. If the light lights up you are good, if not you will have to run a ground somewhere. If you do not want to chase it all the way through the bracket you could add a ground wire, bolt it to the back of the light, and run it to the frame and bolt it on.
