Nick, I am a little tired of your hyper-posting and incorrect information not to mention the way you continually see the need to put down dealer technicians for seemingly no other reason to elevate yourself. This behavior does not benefit this (or any other) on-line community that you frequent. I am looking for the Ignore Member setting... If the moderators have any objection to this statement and wish to moderate me then so be it. I have simply had enough of this crap.

Lastly, the two trucks that you "saw" probably did not have enough fuel pressure to run for whatever reason. With regard to the low fuel pressure warning, I assure you that the PCM does not disable anything, prevent the engine from running or cause it to shut down. Just a warning message and an engine derate.

I highly doubt a moderator will be upset at you. I do find it rich that you feel I put dealer techs down. I was using the quotes as you do, putting the quotes around the word mechanic when referring to anyone working on a 6.7. This is something you do when it is not even in the context of the mechanic doing something wrong or inappropriate. So I was showing you what you were doing and have been doing going back to the 6.0s. It was never designed to get the visceral response it did.
So there are many resources out there that can be found backing up what I am saying.
If the lift pressure is low that switch will cause a crank no start. If engine is already running, it will go limp mode. If the restriction is great enough it won't run even in the limp mode.
If I was trying to "put" you down, which is not in my nature unless all out attacked, I would have said, nope and posted link to the respected resources that back up what I was saying.
I have a lot of respect for you and other dealer techs that I know.
Now we can be polite and get along and I hope we do.

Here is the latest news. I have had the truck back 5 days. the truck ran fine for the first four. This morning on the way to work I got the low fuel pressure warning again. Ford replaced the lift pump last week. Something else has to be wrong with this truck.

Hi, check your repair order to see if the low side was checked for restrictions.

I replied to your PMs but I wanted to add it here. Going by what you wrote in your first PM I am thinking that you have a fuel pump, line or tank issue. A restriction or more likely an air leak can cause fuel pump noise and fuel pressure concerns due to air, which if you have enough air getting into the high pressure system it will cause the engine to stall. Some of my colleagues have found cracked fuel line fittings and a pick up assembly or two. This CAN be intermittent especially if it is sensitive to the fuel level in the tank. I hope your dealer gets to verify the concern which will allow for an accurate diagnosis.

I have a question on this. My new truck supposedly has a low pressure rail sensor that Indicated low rail pressure code. I never saw a message saying low pressure but did show reduced power and almost instantly shut down and I had no brakes or steering. I'm trying to understand the fuel system more.
Thanks

You can miss some of these messages apparently. Regardless, you need to understand that the low fuel pressure warning and code are a SYMPTOM of a fault. Remember that a reduced engine power message can be the result of several different conditions or faults as are engine shut down events.

I have had a few of you suggest the Lemon Law. The Georgia Lemon law only applies to truck with a GVW under 17K with issues in the first 12 months or 24K miles. So I am SOL.

What would make the engine just shut off without any warnings? I am looking for the magic bullet.

Jeeze. This could get ponderous. Let just say there are many things that could shut a truck off. Have you heard back from your dealer?

Just my five seconds of comment..... Don't mind Kieth, if you notice he is from Jersey, so every response will sound a little impatient, direct, a little rude and harsh......but....he's from Jersey, so expect that. He's actually very good at helping figure out members issues..... Just remember, he's from Jersey...... "End comment".

No offense Kieth

No offense taken. A lot of people have misconceptions about peeps from Jersey and make assumptions that we are all the same. I forgive you.

Hey Guys

Just an update. The truck is still in the shop. I have been told that the Ford engineers on the hot line are thinking about sending someone to look at the truck first hand. They keep asking the diesel tech to run the same test over and over again. Nobody can find out why the truck is acting the way it does. The truck has been in the shop for 22 days with no end in sight.

That's terrible...

Re: Lemon Law
You might want to check under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. I believe that is federal and I know that it covers many things - not just vehicles (it was originally created for Computer/electronics - but can cover vehicles... It covered my 26k# motorhome...
