Sometimes they work....

Just wanted to share this. I happen to like it a lot. This guy just showed up on the '47 and earlier page with this creation. He hasn't started his own thread yet, bet he posted it on my current thread about starting a truck based woody. I have a couple of '46-'47 half tons and googled '114" wheelbase' and found the explorer and the right width too. I would have done mine with 16" ford innie wheels and hubcaps, but that's very minor compared to what this guy has accomplished. Seems many FTE'ers have rarely seen a completed frame swap that works. Here's one.

One thing I find odd is the 41 and earlier 1/2 ton pickups used a 112" wheelbase, not 114". What got modified to fit? His sheet metal is very much pre-42.

I shortened a 72 C10 chassis and installed narrowed control arms.

My original intention for my jailbar woody on the landcruiser wagon chassis I have would be to lengthen the frame from 107" to 114". In the end it looks like I will use the factory jailbar half ton chassis and perhaps go with some modern gear. I now have the cowl I cut down from pickup cab and all the other sheet metal in good condition. The front clip in this photo will go on a yard beast wrecker as I have put aside some really nice sheetmetal for this woody project...Long term situation, will decide on chassis at some point.
