Sorry for loss man, never easy. This year I lost a friend and my dog so I know a little of what your going through.
Your truck has come a long ways and is looking fantastic. Something to be very proud of.
I had my dash cluster out and was going to swap the lights over when I had the motor out and ordered the smaller bulbs, the ones for low fuel, 4X4, wait to start etc. Next time. Lol.l
Sorry for your Losses this year. Sure is tough to lose the ones we Love. But man I now enjoy the memories with my own family. My grandpa's are a big part of who I am today. Gma's would be proud of there great grandkids.
On happier note the truck is looking great!
Couple questions.
Did you peel off green covering on guage cluster to get the red to where it is?
Do you plan to blackout your chrome at all?
No I didnt peel anything, I just installed the red bulbs.
No Im not going to black out what chrome I have, im not a fan of tons of chrome but what I have im happy with. personally I think it looks awful when door and tailgate handles, antennas, bed caps, gas doors and all that stuff is chromed out. Ghetto is the word that comes to mind. lol
Been reading your thread lawdawg and am sorry for your loss. I went through the same thing a few years back. Hard losing family and so close to gather. This time of year also. Prayers for you and your family. Nice truck by the way!
Well, came home from the grave side service and decided i needed to keep my mind occupied.....so i started and completed the paint part of the project. Both sides of the bed behind the wheel wells were scratched bad, gouged is more the word. So i decided rather than go through the pita of blending and matching paint, i would do some custom work. There is a bit more to come for this part, but have to let the paint cure up first. The ole back is done for tonight, couch for me and leavin the heat in the garage on full blast to help cure the paint up. Looks glossy cuz its still wet, but this is a black satin finish.
Oh and i also sprayed my old beat up tailgate, but did little prep work to it. Still on the lookout for an 08+ tailgate, so whenever i get one i have enough paint still to spray it to match. Which really was another deciding factor on this paint scheme. Now i can get any color tailgate i find, and easily match it w my paint.
That's a really nice choice you made on design and colors. Like it a lot. You must be some like me as I do everything myself. Turn wrench's, paint, weld and anything else that needs to be done. First power stroke I have owned and have something to learn on this. Have worked on cars trucks and motorcycles all my life. Was even in the electric industrial vehicles for about 10 years. Yeah i'm getting old. I hear the back is done for the day. Have degenerative arthritis all over and have some days I don't do to much anymore. But that's another story. Sure a lot on here have the same kind of stuff going on. But what can you do? Keep on keeping on.
Staying busy is the best thing for now. It helps a lot. At least you have plenty of things to do. I have more to do than I need. lol To many projects going on at one time. Wife gets ill with me with the mess that goes along with it. Just need more hours in the day and more money in the bank to deal with them..lol Wishing you the best in in these day and weeks to come.
Thanks buddy, black and silver is the theme. Cant go wrong with that combo. I was injured in line of duty when i got hit by a fleeing felon and fractured 5 vertebrae in 2013, but thats another story as well lol. I cowboy up and take it and do what i can, but i hurt pretty bad after days like this.
This also is my first diesel, had it since may....stick around the forums and read read read. Dont be affraid to ask questions, ive learned alot from the fellas here.
Thank you, its been alot of work to get her where shes at. Now i just need an 08+ tailgate. I will spray it the same black and get the silver inlays for the embossed Super Duty lettering of the new tailgate. Then shes really gona have a nice @$$
