Toy hauler is 10k loaded. Tune was written for that load. I do not have the option of going back to stock. Coolant temp was in the 230's.
What is FANVAR? Is that the same as FSS on a scan gauge? The FSS would get to 3500 is at the high temps.
I did replace the cap when I did the cooler. I will see about getting pressure tested and a new cap. Also have a new t-Stat I never installed.
I will check those things before I tear into it.
FSS is fan speed and if this was really the RPM of the fan... I'd be looking to replace that fan clutch. I've never heard of or seen anything that high.

When I'm loaded at 22k pulling 3 miles of 4% grade my fan will lock up, the FSS will be around 3500 RPMs and the coolant temp never goes over 220°.
Yes, the FSS is what you want, FSS should be higher RPMS than the actual RPM to show full engagement. (Crank pulley to fan pulley size comparison, i think they are similar size.) I am thinking oil bypass and water pump from what your saying, the water pump impeller is plastic, you can get an anodized metal one which is probably better. By the sounds of that climb, it should still not exceed about 220 to 225 ECT? So something's not right for sure. I pull on.regular basis with gross combined in the 19,000 to 20,000 in 95 f heat and rarely see over 220, and it always come right down when fan on full, whether in 4, or 5th pulling hills and I am ussually doing 65 to 79 mph on cruise. Good luck but sounds like your gonna have to do some wren in.
On a 3 mile 7% grade pulling the travel trailer i saw ECT of 225 and EOT of 235, FSS hit 2700, i was going about 45 up the climb, once i crested the ECT dropped quickly. I am also thinking your water pump needs to be replaced.
Learn something new every day... never seen fan that high. I pull 8k trailer on 6% grade and never seen higher than 2300. ECT was 217, EOT was 225 last summer.
I think if he's going that deep, I'd change the tstat and check the radiator as well, at a minimum I'd back wash the radiator.
With AE I can command fan speed 100% and will see 3200+ fan rpm @ 2500 engine rpm.
WatsonR:
Like the example above, because the crank pulley is larger than the fan pulley, overdriven, it will spin faster than crank rpm @ 100% lockup if the electronic clutch is working correctly.

If you're going slow enough some time when the fan clutch is locked pull it down into 3rd. FSS will shoot up and stay there until temps fall back below 210*f(ish). It's a manual way to force the fan to ramp up and cool down faster.

Like I said.. learn something new every day, thanks gentleman!
