Upgrading Mirrors: Wire Locations?

Hey guys!

Ordered up my mirrors from 1A auto, and they should be here for this weekend's install

I have been doing some reading, but figured I'd get some fresh info/opinions!

For starters, my '02 already had power and heated mirrors, but no turn signals/marker lights.

I already know for the marker lights, I'm going to have to run the wire from the brown connector in the dash over to the doors, no biggie.

Where I am a little fuzzy is, where do I source the wires for the right /left turn signals?

Left light green with a white stripe

Right white with a light blue stripe

Those are the colors I have researched (of course I will probe and test), but where can I find them? I know some have said to take the steering column apart.

One post made it sound like I may get lucky and find the wire in a loom by the brake pedal?

I was thinking it would also have been gravy if I could have just done a "tap a fuse" connector right there at the fuse panel, but from reading the owner's manual, I don't see a fuse listed there.

Any advice would be great guys! Pics of course are welcomed!

Thanks everyone!

One other note:

I found this in another guide:

"I found the easiest way to get at the wires you need for the turn signals was to remove the fuse panel by removing the four bolts and pulling it out of the way. There is a wire loom up behind there that has a white piece of plastic attached to the loom you need with electrical tape. This plastic tab holds the loom in place. Cut the tape, open the loom up and you need to find 2 wires."

I haven't looked back there yet, but throwing that out there in case someone has done it and can confirm that is accurate. Couldn't find a picture of it, but would be awesome if that was a good place

I know i had read somewhere that one member was pleasantly surprised to find all the wires were already there minus marker lights in their truck. It would be a dream of the turn signals were already there and all I had to do was run the marker lights.

I have a 2002 limited. All the wiring was there, turn signal included, except for the marker lights. Tapped it off the headlight switch, I think it was the brown wire but I don't remember for certain. However, my paddle mirrors had the turn signal arrows in the glass, it may be that the turn signal wire is only present on vehicles that come from the factory with that option. The easiest way to tell, when you get the mirrors count the wires in the harness and the wires in the door, if you only missing one wire then you should only need the marker wire which is easy.

Good luck with the install and don't forget to post some pics when you're done.

My 02 has everything but turn signals in the present mirrors. I'm really hoping the wire is already there waiting for me! It would make life so much easier

My 02 did not have the mirrors with the turn signal so I ran wires for my new 08+ mirrors but when I tested the connector on the door I was pretty happy it was already wired for the turn signal.

I had to run the wire for the parking lights and I removed the headlight switch to the left of the steering wheel and tapped into the brown wire there.
