Even being in the auto/truck glass business for the past 29 years I have no clue what you're trying to do. Please be a bit more specific or clear and maybe someone can help.
Ok , I am making my f100 1977 Custom more secure.
on the standard model door it has a large window that winds up and a smaller window next to it which is triangular. The Triangular window is also called a vent window. On this window has a handle mounted on the corner of the frame it swings from and upright possition to a horizontal position where it just hooks onto the frame between both windows. This lock is not truely secure as someome with a coathanger can lift it up from outside with a coat hanger.
So I bought a new Vent Handle which has a thumb pressable button pin so when the handle is in the horizontal position the small button should pop out a few milimeters and lock the Vent Wimdow. But how do you put it on properly ?
Very discriptive, a little tongue on check maybe? Heh, heh. Anywho the latch is held on to a post on the vent frame. There is a pin you have to drive out to get it off. Should be a wavey washer behind it. Don't know if the latter model latches will fit the post. Let us know.
Finally someone who knows what I am asking about .
I have already removed the old handles I have the new ones and need a detailed (maybe even photos) of how to install the new locking ones so they will work. Has anyone tried to do this . I have tried installing one a few weeks back but when you install the press button it dosn't seem to lock. It may need a modification so I really need someone who has done this before.
The older non locking version has a grove around the shaft for the locking pin and a notch on the end to limit travel. The newer style has something different but I can't remember sh&#%@*t er, what it is. I think you would have to change the pin (frame assembly). Let us know if you get it to work.
If you go online to one of our suppliers like Bronco Graveyard or Dennis Carpenter you could look up the different years and find a diagram.
