simply cut the mounts for the gasser out.
the 2 pedestals behind the cross member, IIRC
i believe they are the same as a 460 truck.
the IDI needs lower engine plates.
they bolt to the cross member in the pre-drilled holes.
then use the IDI engine mounts and enjoy a bolt in operation.
there is another bracket that the engine mounts bolt to, that bolt to the engine.
trans mount should not need anything but the tranny mount, whichever trans you go with.

pretty sure the mounts you are talking about are riveted to the frame. I went through a similar scenario, just cut out the rivets and beat them through, removed the old mounts and bolted the ones I had just cut onto the truck i was working on. Or you can do it the hard way and fab new mounts.
edit: looks like you got a much better answer lol

Ok

Just so I follow I need to get a set of the brackets that mount to the frame first and then bolt them in then the diesel motor mounts will bolt up to them and good to go from there thanks for your help I guess it's off to the parts yard to find some mounts

you will also have to swap the core support and radiator..the gasser uses a different core support..i don't think the 351W radiator is enough to cool the 7.3L IDI

See lower (4WD) parts catalog pic below.

1983/97 F250/350 6.9L & 7.3L Diesel (even the pic includes 460, 460 does not use the same parts!).

E3TZ-6028-A .. Right Engine Front Support.

E3TZ-6029-A .. Left Engine Front Support.
-----------------------------------------------
E3TZ-6030-E .. Right Engine Front Support Extension Bracket.

E3TZ-6031-E .. Left Engine Front Support Extension Bracket.

These bolt to the block, then to the rubber insulators that bolt to the supports.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E8TZ-6038-A .. Right Front Rubber Insulator (replaced original 1983 part number).

E8TZ-6038-B .. Left Front Rubber Insulator (replaced original 1983 part number).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E7TZ-6A023-E .. Rear Engine Support Bracket (1987/97 F350 4WD only).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E7TZ-6068-C .. Rear Engine Rubber Insulator (1987/97 only, same as 1988/97 E250/350).

Parts shown as 6A023 - 6028 - 6029 - 6030 - 6031 - 6038 (R/L) - 6068

Edit: The rubber insulators are probably available from auto parts stores, but the other parts were Ford dealer parts only.

I did not look to see if the parts were still available from Ford...or not.

Pics in parts catalogs are for parts guys to get the correct part numbers, so the parts may not be orientated to their exact location.

Note: See lower pic (4WD), the upper pic is 2WD

See what I edited in...in the last two lines of post 8.

Ok I see

I am headed over to my buddy's house later after work to see what it looks like and then I will have a better idea but thanks for the help and the parts list I am looking forward to getting this project done but I'm sure this won't be my only snag

As for the radiator planned ahead I have new radiator core support duel battery trays and upgraded tranny cooler so far the motor brackets are my only snag I'm sure once I get into the wiring harness I'll be asking some more technical questions

Go back to the '93 you got the engine from and get all the motor mount brackets, SAME 1983/97 except the rear engine support bracket that's 1987/97 4WD.

I looked up some of the parts to see if they were still available from Ford on FTE sponsor horizonpartsguy.com webpage.

Horizon Ford Truck Center (Seattle WA) lists the applications and the years the parts fit and gives parts discounts.

great pic.
thanks!

these parts are obsolete from ford.
i converted a 89 F350 460/auto truck to a 97 PSD w/ a ZF5.
IDI and PSD used the same lower mounting pads to the cross member.
i had to boneyard the parts

i ended up gutting the complete wiring harness, converting the dash to OBS,
i gutted the fuel system, and used a diesel FSV, deleting the in tank pumps, while extending them and adding shower heads, deleted fuel valve, and frame mounted pump.

for an IDI i dont think you will have the issues i had,
i made everything plug and play. customized it to run a stock wiring harness.

now, if youre running anything other than a C-6 or a manual trans, youre in for a wiring treat
