Hello everyone, I'm having a little trouble with my 05 Excursion 6.0L and was wondering if somebody could shed a little light on it for me. We took off camping the other day pulling our 30' camper and the engine light came on pretty much as soon as we hit the highways. I checked my Dash boss and it came up as P0299 under boost condition. The truck never skipped a beat. The boost gauge never dropped and it seemed to have lots of power. Actually I've noticed too much boost while pulling. It's climbed up to 36psi before and was still climbing when I backed off the throttle. So could anybody help me out with this? I'm thinking the turbo is fine but not sure what to check next. Thanks for the help.
P0299 can be caused by over/under boost. If your hitting 36 psi that is way too high and could blow head gaskets if not corrected. 28 psi max on a stock engine. Cleaning may or may not correct it. On my 05 we had to replace the turbo. Even a new center section didn't correct the problem.
I got that code along with a few others. Problem was bad ebp sensor. Verified it was the sensor and not turbo by unplugging the ebp and everything went back to normal.

Ya the pucker factor was setting in when I seen that much boost. Looks like I'll pull the turbo and clean and inspect everything. Good time for a coolant flush/filter and EGR cooler delete. Thanks for the help.
So since I've never pulled the turbo from a 6.0l is there any parts/gaskets that I should get ahead of time to reduce down time. Also I'm doing a EGR delete while I'm in there. Any feed back, tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
