Lol its one thing after another with this little job but does anybody have any idea on how remove a bolt that the head broke off of? So the fuel rail is bolted down in two places but the head broke off one of them when I was tightening it down I wasnt cranking it hard as **** or anything it just got tight and I just put a couple more gentle pumps on it and the head just twisted right off it was so easy I didn't even feel it I just slipped off and then saw the the head wasnt there anymorw... if the fuel rail is tightened down on one side do I really need it bolted down on the other I pulled on it lightly to see if it was gonna pop off just from that but it felt pretty secure. It's my everyday vehicle so I put everything back on already so I can make it to work but what do yall think?
I had a bolt break off on the fuel rail, I wound up destroying it trying to drill the bolt out. I chopped the whole piece off and welded on aluminum blank cylinder and just tapped that.
This is worst case scenario...drilling it should be successful 9 times outta 10, and a machine shop should be able to get it out no prob.
Yeah, you need to have the rail secured on both ends when we are talking gasoline under high pressure coupled with vibration & the possibility of it spraying on electrical wires & high heat.
The "tower, stand, pylon, whatever" that the rail bolts to is open on the other side. So there is the possibility of screwing it out the other side. Since it is at a decent angle I'd be drilling it using the smallest easy out you could find. My worst case is drill it out larger & tap for a bigger bolt.
Or just go to the JY & get another lower intake if you bugger it up.
