And then you have to buy a trans. The AOD was a troublesome trans, so later models are the ones to look for. '88 to '93, from a truck or V8.
You mention a C6--3 speed, no od, no lockup. You can fix he shift arm. Cars are up, trucks are down. IIRC you have to pull the valve body to flip it.
