I too am on the "run what ya brung" scenario. Your 390, RV cam, Eddy heads if you got the denaro, dial in the carb, and keep the headers. There has been header gaskets mentioned here that live. I don't remember the brand. Help here guys. And I am a fan of Stage 8 brand "locking" header bolts. I personally have Never had to change a blown header gasket. 390's are torquers already. With 4.10 gears you ought to be able to hook up chains to TWO Chebbies.
Note. You know the stroker 383 that the members of the bow tie brigade are all so warm and fuzzie about? Check out and compare it's bore and stroke compared to a factory stock Ford 390.
