I have a 98 E350. I have added a K&N Filter, BBK Throttle body, CAT back with a FlowMaster 50 Series, SuperChips Module.
I had a straight through muffler for a while. The Flowmaster with some chambers helped the low end and it runs smoother too.
The throttle body butterfly valve cam, where the cable wraps around, is a different shape than the stock one so the response is difficult to control.
I would like to add an intercooler. I was on the coast of California one summer and the cool moist air really made it run great! Ay suggestions about suppliers or manufacturers?
Also, some better fuel injectors would be good too. Any suggestions?
Some duel over head cam heads would improve the power. Or just some re-working. Anyone know of a good valve formula?
All for now. Don't be suprised when my Econoline smokes you from a stoplight!!

Intercoolers are used on turbos and sometimes superchargers. They cool the hotter than ambient temperature compressed air after it leaves the turbo/supercharger and before it goes into the intake manifold by means of a radiator. They only cool when what's inside the radiator is hotter than the air outside of the radiator. If you have a turbo or supercharger then the air gets heated as it is compressed and an intercooler helps. But, If you don't have a turdo or supercharger then an intercooler would only serve to restrict inlet airflow.
I don't know what is or is not available with the other parts you asked about.

When I installed the BBK Throttle Body, it was really touchy at take off. I was ready to blame the cable cam too but after readjusting it, it works fine.
I think the throttle plates were actually sticking because of the engine vacuum. It was taking a little force to break them open and wow, hold on when they did finally open. The instructions said to turn the idle screw in to .01" clearance and then a full turn (if I remember right). Couldn't hardly drive it in the rain. Works fine now though.

I think you're thinking of a cold air intake, not an intercooler. And DOHC's ? Good luck, I would think someone COULD make them, but it would be a one-off custom job. None of the accessory manufacturers have anything, especially since the engine balance shaft resides in one of the heads of a V-10. Maybe a three angle valve job and a trip to Extrudehone would help. But there is not an accessory head made that I know of for the 6.8 liter V-10. Superchargers, yes and that seems to be the upgrade of choice for more horsepower. There's too few V-10's around now for anyone to spend the R&D money for a few pick-ups and vans although I would think that the motorhome accessory people would be 100% behind engine upgrades, as there's seventy zillion V-10 motorhomes around, and more all the time. Heck I can't even get a cold air kit for my van unless I mickey mouse something, which I don't want to do, yet.
