ok reran with New roller cam, it actually hurt the performance compared to last run ?
Huh, I figured the roller cam should have performed better. Most all of the other roller cams out there show an even higher RPM so I doubt they would be beneficial. I guess that will save me $400...
Not knocking the company but we haven't see good numbers from any of the Voodoo series cams for a Ford. Isky used to make some good flat tappet cams for the old fe engines.
Ok thanks, That's more than 405hp so at least I'm not going backwards.
I am disappointed in the Vol Eff%. I guess I'm used to the large performance cams I use to run that had vol eff% in the upper 90's and over 100%. One Crower roller I had was 117%, this cam didn't make to 90%.
I guess you needed the lobe sep and int C/L, they weren't listed on Crane's cam card, I did some looking and found this.
Lobe sep 110
Int C/L 105
If there's something else you need to make it accurate let me know.
OK thanks, glad the eff numbers are higher, I know the numbers would be better if I stroked it but I wanted to see if I could hit the factory 405 hp or better. Original engines where 11-1 comp and had a healthy solid lifter cam, I was hoping the better heads would help compensate for lower 10-1 comp and even though the roller cam has more lift over all it's a little milder than the original. 400 lb trq from 2000-5000 should make a nice street cruiser engine for my Fairlane.
Thanks for running the numbers.
This junky computer locks up every time I try to download a pic, going to have to get a new one soon.
I'm super stoked about having this car, I've been trying to buy it for 20 years and finally bought it last summer. It has original cascade green paint (not a standard color for a Fairlane that year), never been repainted but needs it (some paint has popped off the b pillar and someone keyed the trunk lid). Black bench seat int has been redone but more comfortable front bucket sets are planned. Car came with 6 cyl auto, someone else put the 302 in but after M2 front end is installed my 406 fe will go in. It has Weld drag lites on now but chrome magnum 500's will replace them.
My very first car was a med blue 64 Fairlane 500 with blue int, it had a 289 with Crane cam, headers and Holley 4 bbl that was also my first performance engine build, connected to a floor shifted three spd manual trans. I've had lots of other faster cars and trucks since then but the little Fairlane was always my favorite.
As for this car I'll have to decide who I'm going to will it to, until then it's no going anywhere I don't go.
