So I just got a new ride. 1949 Ford F4 "short" bus. Still has factory Flathead V8 and title. Was running when put up just a handful of years ago. What is the best thing to do as far as starting it back up? New plugs, fluids, battery... I'll see if I can post up some pics
That is pretty cool. The body looks real straight and rust free. The hood trim is installed upside down though, you should have gotten the price down a little for that Where are you in AR? I am in Yellville, between Harrison and Mtn. Home.
I would put your favorite lubricant - Marvel's Mystery Oil has a following - in each spark plug hole and cycle the crank a few times. In addition, I would use an alternate fuel line / tank, and clean all starter/battery connections.
Sweet ride. It looks to be in remarkable shape for a bus. They were never build with good corrosion protection anywhere. New fluids and fuel would be a good plan for planning a startup. Good luck with your new project.
I would give this bus a 9/10 on straight solidness. There is NO rust other than a couple small places surface only. And I think a total of 3 dents which I would only calls "dings" and all 3 are on very back door area. Very small dents.. I am in Russellville. I know right where Yellville is, I've raced there a couple times!
Thanks so much, I'll definitely check that out as I haven't found much info on them. It does have the original tag inside the cab from the bus manufacturer in pristine condition. I looked them up and found some really neat info and pics of some old buses they've done. I'll show the pic of it. Hey 49fordv8f4, small world, who did you get bees from? I am a firefighter/EMT here for the City of Russellville and one of our fellow firefighters raises bees or his father does
