I agree it would make a great vintage camper, but it would make the ultimate tailgate vehicle as well. Or both.
Here's the important question; does the refrigerator work? If it does, or can be repaired, I would have it in my man cave painted the final color of the bus.
Thanks I'll continue to take pics of progress, up next is a much needed bath.
Unfortunately that was the only bad thing about the purchase was the refrigerator did not go with bus. I was a little bummed about it cause it has so much style too. I'll have to find one and put back in. I'm thinking a weekend hangout, mini camper, man cave type build. But who knows.
Really cool part of history there. I vote for the camper/rv type conversion. That would be really cool to hit the road for a few days each month in that thing. Either way, whatever you do with it im sure it will be fun.
That's a cool old bus. First thing to do before doing anything to 'fire it up,': plug in that refrigerator and get your beverages cold, call your neighbors and buddies to come over for a cold drink and then put everybody to work. - If the old bus is eventually restored, and it looks like it could be restored, I would think that movie producers doing movies set in the early 50s might pay a good price to use it in scenes. - Maybe you could drive it as the 'bus driver' and start an acting career. Hey, imagine the possibilities. Good luck!!
Now that is what I call true Patina! A great looking bus that looks to be in really good shape. Nice find and I will be watching your posts. Good luck with it!
Great find Looks like it is in relatively good condition. Before you try to start it check the fuel pump sediment bowl for black junk. If you find it then take off the top of the carb and look inside. If you find it then the tank, lines, pump and carb all will need complete disassembly and cleaning before your engine will run right. Trying to start the engine without cleaning it out will just spread the problem and make it worse.
That's a great find and in very nice shape. I am surprised that the speedometer does not have shift indicators like most other big trucks did. Maybe it was swapped out at some time.
