Need some help yall, my 1980 f250 inline six keeps over heating, has happened twice now which is more than enough to for me. I recently changed the head gasket and pretty much every other gasket on the truck. But that's about it...after the last time I changed the thermostate since I thought that was the likely source. Been driving it on and off for the last 2 weeks with no issues. Now it did it again. Not sure what to do or what to check now. Could it be the radiator? Or something else? Any ideas thanks
check coolant/ water levels and check water pump, radiator lines/hoses, etc my 302 did that until i found a pinched copper line that i then replaced and now it runs fine

How do you know it is overheating? Is there steam coming from the front recovery bottle or sumthin'? Or are you relying ob the factory gauge to tell you the truth?

When you had the head off, did you have it checked for warp or cracks?

Yes, we need more explanation. Is it overheating on the road or around town? And like Chris said, why do you think it's overheating? If it's just spewing out coolant, that could be just a faulty radiator cap.
If depending on the factory gauges, your engine may not be overheating. The factory gauges can be less than accurate. See if you can borrow an IR thermostat from a mechanic or parts house. With the engine at operating temperature, point the thermometer at the thermostat housing and see what the actual temperature is.

The truck looses power and yes steam and pressure are shooting from the recovery bottle. The factory gauge does say it's over heating but after I notice the power loss and steam.
I replaced the radiator cap...so that should be good. Thought I got the bubbles out of the system but I might need to play with that some more. Thought about getting aaftermarket gauge and seeing what that reads.
It over heats when I'm driving on the interstate. Seems to do fine around town.
