We have a problem (apparently).
I tried attaching the old hoses (each of them) to the troubled connector. They seem to go 100% of the way in but do not lock and are easily pulled out
I'm thinking this means I have to replace the connector at the head ?

Short of someone else weighing in with an alternative, I would say yes.
All Righty Then,,
I got a new connector from the Ford dealer then installed that and plugged in the hose without problems. I started the engine (took a couple tries to get the air out of the lines) and drove to the car-wash to clean up the oil mess made when the hose came out of the bad connector. It's still taking a little more cranking to get the engine started but I hope that will clear up after I get onto the hiway.
Within an hour of getting the truck running, I got a call that the job in Nevada has been canceled. Not such a bad thing but I would have liked the paycheck.
