Which rod/main bearings?

Whats up yall, I haven't been around in a while but I have some questions and need a little advise.

I am ready to buy a set of rod and main bearings for my 7.3 IDIT build. I plan on it being my little winter project to at least have the short block built. My plans on the engine are a S366 and R&D DB4 for air and fuel, so you could say it will be a "performance" build. Needless to say, I don't want to go cheap on bearings, or anything really.

Questions, from what I have read. My options are bi and tri metal style bearings. Available brands being Clevite and King, I have heard good things about both. But Im torn which style to go with on an engine that will get beat on with a lot of fuel and air..tri metal or bi metal. Clevite P series bearings are advertised as tri metal bearings. King SI series are advertised as bi metal. And then theres the bearings available from hypermax. What are yalls opinions on this matter?

Price is not a very big deal to me, I just want to build it right. Maybe yall can educate me more on the subject. Thanks.

I am sold on the King bi-metal aluminum bearings for the superior embedding properties and characteristic of polishing forged crank shafts as they run. Russ used a set in his build and was happy with them. I think both types are fine, but Kings are going in my engine.

I did some reading on it, what i figured out is the tech is pretty well over my head. From what i gather you cant really go wrong with either. That said I think the bi-metal are a little more robust.

The cheap Enginetech Bearings are supposedly made by King, and I am running those in the bronco. I have good oil pressure, and it takes the RPM's just fine, I really dont know what use a good bearing could benefit beyond that.

F834, I actually just read up on your thread concerning bearings from a while back..and have come to the realization that I am with Hairy as far as the tech going over my head. I understand some of the ideas and reasoning behind the different style of bearings. The main point being, you cant really go wrong with the King or Clevites..That being said, Ill probably go with a set of King Bi-metal barings and see how they do. I appreciate yalls input!

Yeah, maybe I am just falling for marketing hype, but I like that the aluminum style has a thicker outer layer allowing it to embed larger foreign objects than the thinner outer layer of the Babbitt tri-layer style, and the silicates in the aluminum supposedly polish the forged crank journals thus reducing friction. Those are pretty easy tech concepts to grasp. Ultimately the crank should be riding on an oil film during operation and as long as the machining accuracy and workmanship of the part are good, it shouldn't matter what type the bearing is. But I am hearing good results from Bi-metal aluminum so I'll gamble on that other tech stuff that may just be for marketing.
