Still looking for my son an F150/F250 from the late 70's, 4WD. This one from Norfolk caught my eye. He would take 7500. He says it has a transplanted 390, but frankly, doesn't look like one - looks more like a 351M. What do you all think?
Ditto on the heater core and the inner fender, its completely rusted through. Definitely not a 390 or an FE for that matter. FE's intake manifolds go all the way out under the valve covers. Given a 4 core radiator I would bet its a 460, but the pictures are not good enough to differentiate between the "M" series and a 460. At $7500, I'd walk away unless you want about $3500 dollars worth of immediate headaches...
I hear y'all. I have never gone to look at it, as I live in eastern NC. But you can tell from one of the pics that there is no intake under the valve cover, so I called BS on the 390 already. Interestingly, the guy that owns it knows little to nothing about trucks or Fords. He says he bought it from a guy who worked at a Ford dealer, a salesman. He did say the A/C was not working presently.
Good call on the exposed fuel cap! I saw the bypassed heater core but didn't worry so much on that one. Yeah, it does look like there's a hole on the left inner fender in engine bay (unless it's a piece of black roofing asphalt).
