SPRING QUESTION
Is this a normal set up for a regular F-250 XLT SD? The spring code on the door jamb reads VB. Front spring is just two leaves, but the rear has a total of six leaves. Four in the main spring pack with one very heavy short leaf under the main pack and one above that is not quite as stout that will hit the bump stops.
The previous owner had a large 10' cab over camper completely self contained, generator, ETC. He also installed air bags as well.

I'm assuming that it's the '01 in your signature you're asking about. My e99 has that same spring code on the door jamb. Two leaf spring for the front would be correct but they could still have been changed to a different weight spring. Those rear springs sound like they've been beefed up. Mine had 4 over a helper before I replaced them.

The V code up front is a 2 leaf, full taper leaf spring. So that sounds stock. A rear B code is a 4/1 multi leaf. Sounds like the vehicle is also equipped with a taper helper spring that sits on top. The helper should be sitting on a 1" high block that is sitting on top of the main assembly.

ATS. That sounds like what I have. Both of the "helper springs" are separated from the main spring pack, bottom and top by about an inch or so. Looks like they need to be loaded to engage either way.
