Two questions

Sorry if these have been asked before...

When did Ford first offer A/C in pickups? 1967?

Did any 65-66 Ford pickups come with a fan shroud from the factory? A "heavy duty cooling" package? I know GM trucks did, at least on the big v8s and some I6s.

Thanks!

At least in 1966 trucks, Ford called it the "Extra Cooling Radiator", shown as "Extra Cool Radiator" on both of these invoices at these links. You'll be able to click on the pics to make them bigger, I believe.

Did Camper Specials come standard with the "extra cool" radiator? Apparently not. My F100 CS with 352 doesn't have one. Always thought that was strange.

Camper Special package included a 'rapid cooling' radiator. Your truck is 50 years old, so it may not have the original radiator.

1965/66's did not come with a fan shroud, but one can be installed that fits like it was made for it.

D3TZ-8146-C = Repro'd by Carpenter, original applications: 1968/76 F100/350 360/390 with standard/xtra cooling & A/C radiators. NOT used with Super Cooling radiator.

Sorry if I used the wrong term there. The 1966 Salesmans Facts Book refers to the (optional on almost all trucks and) Camper Special standard feature as "Extra Cooling Radiator" as well as the notes at the bottom of pages 6 through 14 in text section 80 so I figured that was the official name for it. Ah well.

Did the F100 Camper Special come standard with the rapid cooling radiator?

The only information I have is the 1966 Salesmans Fact Book and it would indicate that F100 Camper Special did come standard with Extra Cooling Radiator in that year.

Interesting. Wonder what happened to mine. My truck is very original with under 50k miles. If true, it would be about the only deviation from stock that I can find on it.

Here's a link to similar page that TripleFrame posted, although he doesn't say exactly what it was taken from, but it shows about halfway down the page he posted the

Radiator.......................................... ...Extra Cooling

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-specials.html

Oh, that was you, also. Lol...

Does your current radiator have a date and ID numbers stamped on it?

All three of my trucks have something similar to this - In this case C6TA-AC and dated 66 06 (June 1966) which was when this truck was built.

You can see there it has an engineering ID and a date code. This is on the top tank near the inlet on the engine side. It's actually stamped into the tank itself.

The one from my 1966 F250 4x4 Red V8 is at the radiator shop right now.
