Need Help, Radiator Cap for flathead 6

Hi,

So I am trying to locate a radiator cap for my 226 flathead 6. I installed the new walker radiator but the smallest pressure cap carried by walker is 7 pounds. My original cap is 3 or 4 pounds.

Will it be OK to run the 7 pound cap?

Your original radiator was rated for a four pound system, the new one also has a rating. Buy a cap that is appropriate. The engine mostly doesn't care within reason.

Be aware, the replacement radiators don't always use the stock cap, i.e., may be a different diameter. Mine has a replacement radiator, I took the filler neck dimensions to NAPA and they were able to pick a 4-lb cap out of the catalog. The cap I got is NAPA #703-1419 Stant #10281. Dimensions are here, but it isn't clear exactly what they refer to: NAPA AUTO PARTS
