I had to replace the distributer in my 1995 F150 351w because the pickup sensor in the distributer went bad. I bought a remanufactured distributer from Pep Boys with a cast iron gear. After replacing, and timing the truck ran great for 3 or 4 months before it broke down again. This time I pulled the distributer out and the gears had worn down quickly and finally broke.
Do I need a better distributor, or could the replacement distributer just have been bad?
i noticed a lot of parts store listings are horrible for description on the steel vs iron.if i remember correctly i looked one up for a 96 351 and it showed a steel gear
