I have a 2011 E-150 and I tow a trailer with it from time to time and well... the performance of this van with a trailer is less than desirable. I looked at all the Programmers out there like SCT and Edge, etc... and None of them have a program for the year/model van. Does anyone out there have experience with a programmer for this van?
Any information is helpful.
At this point, I am looking at getting the SCT Livewire TS+ and then spending anywhere from $300 (minimum quoted price) to $1200 to have a program written! At that point, unplugging an O2 sensor so it runs rich is a better option.
Unless your van has a turbo diesel motor a tuner is a complete waste of money because you cannot program in more torque from a non turbo gas engine.. it is what it is so your options would be change the axle gearing or change the tow vehicle.
I disagree. Though you can not program more torque, you can program shift points, fuel delivery, spark advance, etc. it all helps while towing. For some reason, the manufacturers do not have a standard program for this vehicle. It has one for the F-150 for 2010 with the same Engine/Tranny combo. I am sure Demand is the reason.
At this point, my quick fix is to disconnect an O2 Sensor and then it runs in a rich condition and there is a noticeable difference in power. I can get to speed limit quicker, hold it here and the transmission does not shift as much.
That thread is mostly about the V10 motor however I'm assuming you have a gasoline V8 Mike can/will write a program pretty much tailored to your exact needs---in fact you receive up to 3 tunes plus device for under $500.
The imparted value doesn't stop there though. Once you've had time testing one of his tunes if it needs tweaking to better suit you that's pretty much included in the price. He knows these engines and their strategies as well as anyone but the willingness to support his products after the sale is absolutely amazing to me. Others agree as you can see in that above-thread.
I hope this gets you pointed in the right direction.
