76 4x4 questions
so I recently acquired a "project" As I need to replace the long tie rod anyway I'm trying to find some info on upgrading. I read some where that I can use a later model tie rod/drag link set up and do away with the funky "y" original to the truck. What year should i look for ? Also I have 2 tanks. Which is the main? Behind the seat or under the rear? Thanks for yer time!! Oh yea. It's a F100 short box if that makes any difference.

For the drag link and tie rods, spec over to the 78-79 half-ton 4WD, inverted T-style. Less points of movement and more consistent steering and suspension angles.

The rear tank should be the main, and also the default tank if you ever loose power to the switching valve. I always used the aux. first in case there was a problem. I've seen plenty of drivers over the years go to switch from main to aux. only to find they couldn't due to some failure in the valve or electrical.
