Cuz that makes sense...pos steal cars, so lets punish the victims or possible victims for making it so easy for those poor criminals who wouldnt have been bad if not tempted by the meany victim....that is liberal logic at its best
Or to have the eco-terrorists berate you for burning fossil fuels ... all the while they're using their iPhones ....

Don't forget this was politicians that came up with this
Then the enforced by offices that have better ways to spend
there time. I think part of the tipping point on this silly law
was mom and the hid in the running car at a 7/11 and the car thief .
We had a rash of that crap.
I would never enforce a law like that, nor woud i ever cite someone for idleing their car, and from a cops perspective i doubt many cops would. Ive never been to Tacoma but have spent alot of time in Seattle as one if ky ex girlfriends lives there, shes from out here near St louis, went out there for school and didnt wanna leave, hence why shes my ex now lol. As much as i do love the Pacific NW, there are alot of tree hugging hippies out there.
I looked for something to do this, as we have the ability in our work vehicles - the only thing I could find was the secure idle. Was a little expensive, so I built my own:
Key-out Idle board
I don't have a picture of the completed board, it's in the truck
This board connects to a push button under the steering column. If the truck is running, and the e-brake is set, I can push the button and remove the key. Coming back I put the key in, switch to run, disengage the e-brake and drive away. Very simple.
On the ignition switch, it connects pin 4 to pin 1 of the ignition. To make the high-idle work [on the upfitter switches], I've wired a diode between pin 6 and pin 1 of the ignition switch to ensure the ACC/RUN is powered as well. I've been using this for a year with no problems.
If anyone is interested I can send/post the schematic, parts list and board layout.
