Backpackers?

So on Monday morning at about 5:30 AM I am headed up to Mystic Lake in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness, until Saturday. I can't wait to get the heck out of here either. I was just wondering if I was making anyone jealous. I will be heading up to Island, Silver, Storm, Avalanche, Emerald, and Snowball lakes. They are stocked with various strains of Rainbow trout and a natural, genetically perfect strain of Yellowstone Cutthroat trout.

Yup. I am stuck here for a while, until whoever is in charge of the road jobs stops complaining about nobody wanting to go and realizes that I have been waiting! Hurry up and wait....... It's the EB way!

Nah, just kidding I hope you have a good trip. I'll make one for myself sometime soon (ok not that soon I have a mountain bike trip planned in a couple weeks if my hands are healed *I burned them pretty good* and next years vacation I'm hoping will net me some portaging (sp?) up north.

Have fun!

Well I guess it is like walking but its way cooler. I have stumbled across huge elk, deer, mountain goats, and bighorn sheep, and literally fish that jump out of the water at your hooks.

This will be the best trip, because this year I am in better shape and hopefully won't be so tired.

Backpackers?

I would like to wandering about in the wilderness right now, instead of running on my treadmill. going somewhere in the Tetons would be nice, start at Mousehole, and walk over to the Swiss Lodge.. That would be nice wander for a weekend trip.

ok you want to know how I hurt my hands:

*Leaving all dignity and pride here for pickup after this post*

I was lighting the pilot light on our natural gas hot water tank, I was priming it and lighting it and it kept going out, so being a little impatient, I turned the gas on...well I went and between the few seconsd it took to turn it onand get my hand in there to spark it with my sparker I use for my torch.... BOOM there goes all the hair on my arm and both hands. I had my head out of the way and it just did a quick backdraft and we keep the room clean so nothing caught. But it gave me a scare and cost me a night of soaking hands in ice water followed by going on two weeks of useless hands

*Pick up pride and end post here*

I would like to add that after having my hands in ice water for 3 mins, I ran back downstairs primed it properly and got it lit so everyone had a hot bath that night (including me with gauzed hands and plastic bags over them)

Backpackers?

the job I had in Atlanta did not leave much time for getting out like I wanted, but hopefully the promotion I took here no Salt Lake will give me more time to get out and see some places.

This is beautiful country around here. I can see there will be a few trails in my future!!!

Oh man I love Utah right around Provo, right there in the mountains. Right there is one of the most accesible trails and they are so close its hard to turn down.

I have never been to the tetons, I would love to see them though, I hear most of the peaks are weekenders so thats good. Granite peak is a three day adventure and Gannet Peak 26 miles to the south takes a week because there is no "trail".

Matt, have you made it to the Jewell Basin lakes in the Bob Marshall wilderness? They're pretty spectacular by west slope standards.

I hope to get up to Tranquil lakes basin before summer is out - its just off Hywy 2 in the Great Bear wilderness just north of the Jewell basin. It's an over-nighter minimum.

Have a great time next week and watch your step.

Backpackers?

Packing is LIVING !!! I've ran acrossed plane wreckage, bighorn sheep on San G, plenty bear, deer of course, sighted lots of birds of prey, rattlerz, terantulas from horizon to horizon, a blizzard of moths, mine shafts. There is a lot to see in them thar hills.
5-6 day trips are the best I M O.

Have fun, man....I'm jealous.

Hope you have a good time on your trip. It must be a lot different from taking a hike in Louisiana
