Door handle repair

Working on my driver's side door handle. The push button seems to have excessive play (from overuse no doubt) and doesn't engage until the very end of travel. The passenger side is fine and engages much earlier. Is a new handle needed? Wanted to check with all to see if there is an easy fix out there. Thanks again!

Hey check the rod from the handle to the latch might need straitened
A flash light and mirror are needed.

Roadrash is right on checking the rod inside the door. I have found that these get fatigued and usually revert back to bending out of position. Good idea to replace, or if you weld. Weld a piece of steel along the rod. Leave room not to interfere with the ends. It will last your lifetime.

IIRC there are also some plastic bushings connecting some of the moving parts that can break; new ones are available from the HELP! section at various parts places.
