Cant Pull Codes
***Note: Cross posted in Bronco forum. - just trying to get as much info before I get some so i can work on it tonight***
1993 5.0 E4OD
Driving home tonight sitting at stop light about .5 mi from house started getting very rough idle, check engine light came on and engine died.
Put in park started back up Check Engine light is on.
Seemed very sluggish and just not running good. OD On/Off button will not work(light stays off) Nursed it home.
Tried to pull codes and CEL stays solid. Disconnect battery, then reconnect and try to pull code and self test starts but doesn't finish. I hear like a fast electrical short sound and CEL flickers. Then CEL stay solids.
Self test will not start again unless I disconnect battery. Rinse Repeat. Self test never gets going.
Darkness and Thunderstorms stopped my troubleshooting.
Does start and shift into drive and reverse.
OD on/off button does not work with, I was able to get a KEOR test to start and OD on/off button worked during that test.. No codes during this test....
Check/Swap the Fuel Rly with the EEC Rly...
Either the EEC will work and the Fuel pump won't OR the EEC will work and the Fuel pump WILL work or maybe that's just not the problem..
My EEC Rly was intermittent and caused your issue and MANY more....
I would follow that circuit trace back to the connector to determine if there is a short somewhere (sensor, relay, etc) BEFORE you try the new EEC...
You may burn up the new EEC if you don't...
I had a burned trace too (I mag wired it) and it was not the problem..
ALSO... The connector on the EEC was not making solid contact.. I cleaned and applied connector grease which helped a good deal...
Pretty evident the swapped-in EEC isn't getting 12V as its memory (KAM) is losing history based on the codes.
The other board looks to have taken power, FP circuit hits, and overload hits across a number of areas --- unless you're an Intel 8XXX specialist, I'd pass on trying to salvage it as the board appears to be de-laminated under the capacitor and elsewhere.

I have checked I am getting 12v to Pin 1 on the Connector.
Think I need to get a "known good" PCM and put it in and see if its the computer.
All Fuses/Relays and grounds have been checked.....
UPDATE..... picked up remanufactured computer from NAPA..... Truck wouldnt start with it in.... i was able to pull codes on this one. Seemed like fuel pump wasnt priming with this computer. Making NAPA get me a new one....
But good sign with this computer that i am able to actually pull codes. Will see in a couple days when new computer is here..
PS: I put bad computer back in and it starts right up, Still cant pull codes on that one and it runs like crap. So I am still thinking PCM is the culprit.
