I posted earlier but something went wrong with it so let's try it again.
I wanted to add on some extra battery banks for my trailer to tap into for extended stay off the path so to speak. I hate the mega sized, 50 to an acre, RV parks and prefer to find a nice quiet place and keep it that way by not running a generator. I took the spare tire storage compartment that my 74 SCS has and turned it into an add-on space. Put 2 Group 29 deep cycles, an isolator relay and the 7 wire junction box in there. Have other ideas for stuff to go in the space but have not ventured down that rabbit hole yet. Next step is to remove the 1G alternator and put in a much heavier 175 amp pad mount alternator from a heavy truck application. Already figured out how to set it up and use the existing pulley set to drive a dual belt. That should put the wattage in the cottage and keep all the batts charged. Will post pics of that when I get it built.
Nice job. Are you working in the electric industry?
No, but I am a big rig mechanic and I do lots of upfit and retrofits on all sorts of equipment. I drastically overbuild everything. This truck will be not be an exception to that rule.
