I tend to overbuild everything I do. Sometimes to excess. We bought a fifth wheel trailer to do some camping but I hate going to these developed grass patch, park 50 trailers in an acre, RV campsites. To be able to run on 12v for an extended period of time without having to run a generator to recharge everything, I added a set of Group 29 deep cycle batteries. Instead of adding them to the trailer and having to put in storage boxes and ducts for off-gassing and such, I put them in the truck. Handy thing, the Camper Special... It has that nice side compartment spare tire space to do just that.

I tiook that space and built in a rack for the batteries, installed an isolator relay and wired it all up to the 7 wire plug that I installed in the bed for the trailer. I now have 2 batteries in the trailer and 2 in the truck for 12v supply. Gonna have to do some serious alternator upgrading though. I will use the pad mount for the a/c compressor and fab a custom mount for a high output alternator. Thinking about a 175 amp model that we put in trucks. It is internally regulated and will handle the rotation speeds that come with a gas engine. Then I can delete the 1G that is currently in the truck. Will add those pics when I do the upgrade.
