Headlight Issue - Need some schooling.

Electrical has never been my strong suit.

59 f100 with an aftermarket harness in it.

A couple months ago I replaced my headlight switch (with one from LMC). I thought I check to make sure the lights worked properly but do not remember now. Last weekend noticed the driver side headlight was dim and the brights are on dimly also and the same time. When the brights are on they are bright on the passenger side only.

I switched the passenger bulbs with the driver bulbs and the issue stayed on the driver side. I assuming that the switch is either bad or I wired it wrong. I moved the wires from the old switch to the new one, one at a time, but I still could have done it wrong.

Any help? Where can I find a wiring diagram?

Sounds like you may have improper ground ofn the driver's side. If the switch wasn't working, the passenger side wouldn't work either.

I have not used this diagram but several folks here have :http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-58-1959-59-1960-60-Ford-Truck-11-X-17-Laminated-Color-Wiring-Diagram-/361364977485?hash=item542307f74d&vxp=mtr
There is also some stuff here but maybe exactly not what you need. 57-65 Ford Wiring Diagrams

have fun!

This is what I used for a couple of early 60's Ford cars when I was restoring....not sure if same/similar to the trucks. The aftermarket wiring harness is going to make it difficult if they changed the colors of the wires.

You have a bad ground on the drivers side. The clue is that when low beams are on, the driver side is dim and the high beam bulb is very dim. Check the wiring at the driver side bulbs. One of the wires from the 3 terminal connector on the low beam and one of the wires from the 2 terminal connector on the high beam join together and are fastened to the sheet metal with a screw. Remove the screw and clean any rust, then reconnect. What is happening is that the ground to the sheet metal is bad and your driver side low beam is grounding through the high beam circuit, adding much resistance to the circuit.

Thanks, That was the issue. The ground wire had lost the screw that mounted it.
