Gauge Opinions Needed

Evening All,

Well, it's getting to that time of year again and I need some opinions/help from the braintrust.

Last November I bought a stock (as far as I know) '06 F250 with the 6.0L. I use it for towing my toy hauler in the winter, and long trips to the river in the summer (not towing). i wanted to get some gauges, and guess I'm old school as I want a 3 gauge A Pillar pod. What I need help with are the gauges themselves, here's my thoughts;

EGT Gauge (question on this later)
Trans Temp
Fuel Pressure

Not set on the 3rd one, if anyone has some better ideas for the 3rd gauge I'm happy to listen. i just thought with my limited knowledge of diesels that this would give me a good cross section of what the truck is doing while we're driving.

Also, on the EGT gauge, is it better to get the probe style or the clamp on style?

Thanks all in advance,

Jay

my advice...skip the trans gauge and get a boost gauge. The transmissions in these trucks seldom have any problems let alone overheating. I have one in my truck and it sits at 160 degrees and never moves. I could see maybe if your going to be hauling a 10K motorhome, but if you not towing...save the room for a boost gauge.

Check these out:

Gauges - Factory Match Ford

certainly more expensive but damn they look good

An additional boost gauge is NOT needed as he has a 2006. They come standard on the dash, and are accurate.

EGT, and Fuel Pressure are great gauges to have, but I would also invest in a ScanGauge II. This will also be able to read your Trans Temp. Plus keep you informed on the FICM, VOLTs, EOT, and ECT and other sensors. These are vital to know.

Thought about a boost gauge for a second, but after doing some reading here noted that everyone said the factory boost gauge was "adequate". And since I do tow, thought trans temp would be more important than the stock "idiot light" it comes with. My toy hauler fully loaded is somewhere between 9 to 11K probably.

FICM= Fuel Injection Control Module
EOT= Engine Oil Temp
ECT= Engine Coolant Temp

You may need to spend some time in tech folders, and on google search. If you dont know much about these engines, they are COMPLETELY different from any other diesel engine.
