Is there any advantage to using an electric sender on the boost gauge vs a mechanical gauge? Have heard of some noises associated with the mechanical gauge. Looking at autometer gauges, as it seems every one has good reliable luck with them. I'm also looking into a trans temp gauge and post turbo pyro. Maybe I'll look into a digital gauge setup . . . any how I'm rambling on now.
Can't answer the original question but I just installed a SPA digital gauge that does boost and EGT in one gauge. So far I like it, a little pricey but I really like digital gauges, I have gotten used to them on my boat, and I like the two in one feature, less clutter.
I use the X-Monitor and am very happy with it. Digital gauge with pyro, boost, and tranny temp all in one. I also have the CES module which adds an audible alarm and turbo timer/temp feature to keep the truck running until the turbo has cooled.
Turns out that the EGT drops so quickly that as long as you take it easy on the last mile or so before you get to your destination, you shouldn't need to wait more than 30 seconds to a minute for the EGT to drop to safe levels. Still glad that I bought that option though . . .
