Identify Transmission
I have a 2002,3.0, Automatic, XLT. How do I identify what trans is in it,

How to identify your transmission
count the bolts that fasten your transmission pan on

C3 trans-13 bolt trans. pan
C5 trans-11 bolt trans. pan
A4LD trans-18 bolt trans. pan

There is a transmission code letter on the label on your door jamb. The code can likely be Googled to determine what it stands for. If your truck is a Ranger it may be a 5r55e.

It is an 18 bolt. I'll take a look a the door jam sticker. Thanks for the help.
