I was wondering how can I tell if I have the 4R70 or the 4R100 in my supercrew?

In 2003 all 5.4's that aren't Lightning or 7700 models have the 4R70W...so I'm told.

Look at the transmission pan. The 4r70w is fairly square around the perimeter and has 14 bolts. The 4r100 pan is oddly shaped and has 20 bolts.

 

Trans code U on the door tag = 4R70W.

 

Sure, make it easy. C'mon, I wanted to make him at least work a little for it.
