i see these offered by many companies and they say the are a direct replacment for the stock front springs. No modifications to the front end at all...
Can anyone from their own personal experience tell me if this is true? ?
i have a broken main leaf and i want to replace both side but, i dont want to raise the front end by putting fresh stock springs on .. i like the stace the way it is now...
Sorry no direct expierence, but I have "heard" of clearence concerns at the rear attach point. This area had to be reworked to keep the spring from binding.
I replaced both front springs on my 54 with the 5 leaf reverse eye
from mid 50. All new bushings, pins & new hanger bars. All went very smooth with the install,no modifications at all.I replaced the shocks at the same time
The ride height is about 1.5" to 2" lower than stock, and a much smoother ride. The only concern I had was the springs are only about 1.5" from the bumpers (on the axle) but after almost 20K miles I've had no problems.
I replaced my front springs (main leaf only) about a year ago. Ordered new bushings, etc. No problems with install. I did however have to cut wrap around portion of the second longest spring as some of the previous posts mention. Unfortunately my original springs sagged so much the reverse eyes raised my front end just a tad. Going dropped axle route next. Good luck.
I suspect Penn Dick and RC are both thinking of Mono Leaf springs when they mention the possibility of modifications needed.
I installed reverse eye main leaves on the rear of my 54 and I see no need for any modifications to make them work. (Admittedly, it will be approx. 4 yrs before the suspension will receive real-life exercise, but they look like they will work fine.)

I installed front reverse eye springs on my 56 F100 about 20 years ago and the stance and ride is good with no problems but going through large potholes will cause springs to bottom out. Hope this helps. GuyeeBob
