I recently recently replaced my turn signal wiring in my column and in doing so pinched a wire that caused the turn signal and flasher fuses to blow. I fixed the short and replaced the fuses and the turn signals work fine. Now the fuel, oil, and temp gauges are pegging high. They worked fine before I touched anything. The manual I have says they are powered by a constant voltage regulator. What does it look like and where is it located? Anything else I should be checking? The truck is a '66 F-100, 240ci, three on the tree.
Thanks. john
The CVR is found on the backside of the instrument cluster. I've attached a picture of the approx. 1 1/2" x 1/2". wires attached send in 12 volts and come out approx. 5 volts to run gauges. Somewhere on the forum, there is instruction to build your own with parts from radio shack for about $8. That's the unit just above with long wires.
I'm not the expert here but a symptom of pegging gauges is the CVR is no longer working and the full 12 volts are going to the gage.

Posting pic from 65 Ford F100-F750 wiring manual. May want to pick up a copy, around 8 pages costing around $7. Most Ford part supplier's carry them or purchased from source; Jim Osborn Reproductions.
Should be able to enlarge slightly by clicking on the diag?
