I had a 68 short bed. I wrecked it on a monday. The prior weekend, I JUST installed a nasty 460. Neglected the brakes, ran a stop sign, piyied a van, pole and a corner of a house. the only body part NOT damaged was the driver door. I walked away.
High school days, owned my first bump. A 69. As three teens would do, some underage drinking and a muddy field, we nailed something. It was night (or early morning). The 360 spitting and sputtering, not steering worth a crap, drove that baby home 10 miles and never over heated. Tagged a lonesome fire hydrant. Ripped the grill off, Tacoed the core support and bent the left rim.
I bleed Ford.
Rolled a Toyota 4x4, seat belt saved my life.
I'm pretty sure someone else has a greater plan for me, considering the opportuities I took not to be here.
OK, mamma got her inspected. I told her to show some clevage this time .
A buddy came over last night and needed an emergency front bake job on his Chebby truck. That made for a long and intoxicating night.
Tags sometime this week and its rock n roll
Nothing much to update, I did pick up the registration this morning. It was kind of a big deal for me on a 3 day weekend. Now we can get her up to daily driving speeds.
I'm tired and mentally whipped.
We got the bug for my bride (pick it up this weekend). Informed her she WILL be working on it and that she will have a dress code that will be enforced.
I wish they would do one of those crash tests with alternate vehicles...that is, my old 96 F350 CCLB 7.3 Powerstroke against a Hyundai. I wonder what would happen in a case where the vehicles are dramatically different.
Those laws of Physics, are what I was talking about in post#62. If you are riding in a 5000lb machine, and hit, or get hit by, a 2500 lb machine, the odds are that the 5000 lb machine will suffer lots less damage. Most vehicles matched in video crashes, seem to be of similar weight, which is not the case on the highway any more. Most land yachts are in the bone yard, and my 5300 lb. diesel F250 4x4 might not survive some accidents, but odds are that I will. Especially with most little eco cars on the highway. Modern engineering, airbags, not withstanding.

Baja (in the bruiser cruzer)..
Exactly! That was my point too. My daughter had no real chance in a little Honda Civic against an Expedition. Most f the tests you see are small on small which is fine as a single data point, but is not representative of too many crashes. Although I am having fun with the Bump, I don't feel nearly as safe as when I was in my F350 diesel. Short of hitting a semi, I would have won.
TIT got some mileage on his truck this weekend. I didn't drive it due to an allergic reaction I suffered from fermented oats and barley.
I did notice him WORKING it. All twin I-beams road walk but this was more than there should be. Therefore, I'm a lot more excited about getting to the junk yard Saturday and securing a D/Brake front end so I can buy only 1 drag link.
He loves it and the attention it gets. Then again, all those people could have very well been admiring me...
Yea, i didn't think so either
