Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been on here, been working two full time jobs for a while now and my Ole 03 has been neglected for any but the most basic maintenance. I need a new driveshaft and it's been suggested that I look into a one piece. I have the extended cab long bed, I wouldn't change just to do it but since I need a new one is there a benifit to a one piece? My truck is pretty much stock and I'm not going to do anything crazy to it, prob never make 400 hp with it. It is a 6 speed btw. Where do yall suggest getting shafts from weather 1 or 2 piece? As usual thanks a lot for any advice, hopefully I'll be changing out my 419,000 mile old injectors in the next month or two...
If the angles turn out right you will eliminate the inherent surging that comes with a 2-piece drive shaft having an odd number of u-joints (it is impossible to phase 3 u-joints). If the angles don't work out right, you will just reintroduce the oscillation with incorrect alignment.
With a 1-piece drive shaft you may create the possibility that you can high-center on the drive shaft itself which is BAD. This is one reason multi-section drive shafts exist. It allows the drive shaft to stay within the frame until it gets near the rear differential.
I have a 1 piece driveline because after lift the driveline shutter would not go away shimming center bearing up or down.68,000 miles vibration free !!
