This is the 2nd OC on my truck, I didn't send in a sample on the factory fill.
14,960 total miles.
7,840 miles on sample.
The oil was changed at the time of sample, IOLM stated "change oil soon", I drove approx 400 mi. and it hadn't changed to "change oil now".
Oil is John Deere Plus 50 II 10w-30 CJ-4, and I stayed with same brand/grade.
Sampled on 7/29/15
What is the benefit to oil samples on new engines under warranty?
I realize the benefits for heavy equipment, but I've always wondered about testing passenger trucks when they are so new.

UOA can tell you if something is starting to fail while you are under warranty. Not all failures are apparent through sound or visual, so you can possibly get something resolved under warranty that you wouldn't be aware of otherwise. For example, if you're seeing high silicone for a few oil changes, chances are you may have a crack in your intake somewhere or a loose hose clamp you otherwise wouldn't be aware of, causing you to slowly "Dust" your engine.
I pulled a UOA this change for a couple of reasons;
1) This is my first DPF equipped diesel, after hearing all of the fuel dilution stories and running until IOLM told me to change had me somewhat concerned.
2) The cost is $13 and change to run a UOA as I have several other diesel engines with much larger sumps I run samples every OC. I can keep an eye on several things such as, coolant contamination, high silicon, fuel dilution, low viscosity, high wear metal contamination, and to see how the additive package is holding up.
3) If there is something not in line with what it should be the lab notifies me immediately, so its somewhat of an insurance policy.
