Oh dang, another thing I've done and need to go back and do the correct way. I admit I not only read somewhere about heating and twisting the handle shaft and did it. But I was so excited about it that I posted it so every body else could have this new found information. Ill never be done with my truck, because the more I learn the more I end up redoing. Great thread, why did I have to read it.LOL

That was the joke I made to my wife when she realized the pass side handle has so much more wear. I had to point out that the drive side didnt have a lock cylinder so the pass side got used a great deal at some point in its life

Well I'm sure glad these trucks only have 2 doors!! I spent some of Saturday and most of Sunday, cursing, swearing and wishing I had never taken this apart. But at the end of the day I have the passenger side door opening and closing better than before and the handle is sticking straight out like it took Cialis or something.
Not without complications though. I broke a couple of tabs off so as things were put together they were welded so its not coming apart. Also I purchased to new springs and they do not fit. They look identical until you line them up to the old one and then you can see the end bends differently on the new ones compared to the old one. I also did not have my phone with me then and forgot to take a picture and this is not coming apart again. Of course I broke the old spring at the end and got creative with a grade 8 nut, welder and grinding wheel, its in place and works.
Pictures for your enjoyment.
At least this nasty repair is well hidden inside the door.
