Less about theft and more about vandalism. It seems there are people in this country that find it funny to pour random stuff in people's tanks.
A member here who lives in FL (I think Nipperdog) explained that to us a few years ago when he was waiting in a parking lot and he caught some kids attempting or maybe succeeding in pouring a soda in some guy's fuel tank.
That's a $9,000+ repair for us in the fuel system and about half that to repair the DEF system.

I had rather lock my fuel tank than the DEF tank at this time. The cost to repair the DEF system is a lot less than a full fuel system repair.

You can get a Stant lockable diesel green fuel cap for our trucks. Stant p/n 10510D about $14.00 on eBay.
