There is a f250 v10 4wd extended cab with 280,000 miles for sale about an hour from me. I have never owned this year ford truck or known anybody with a v10 truck. What should I look for when driving it? any typical problems with the engine? Gas mileage isn't a major concern because it won't be my daily driver,but what can I expect for mpgs? Thanks for any opinions!!

 

I get 11 in town, 13 hiway, and 10 towing.

 

Sold my 00 about a month ago. Loved it. I would look for the obvious leaks. Ask if the transmission has been replaced or rebuilt; if it has, when. Then just drive it. Does it have a lot of power? Or does the engine seem tired? These trucks can go for a long time, but they just like anything need maintenance. If well maintained and it looks and feels in good shape, I would not hesitate. Like I said, I loved my V-10 to death and wish they still made them. When it came time for replacement, I didn't have much choice; either go with a less powerful V-8 or go Diesel (because of all the mods I had done) So, I am now a Diesel guy.
