Can a Distributor be Worn?
Just wondering is all. When I put in the new intake manifold gaskets I noticed that the dizzy had a tad bit of play in it. Didn't know if this is an item that one would ever replace due to wear.

I once has one where the gear slipped on the shaft. I would get everything lined up, run it fine, then shut the engine off and the pressure from stipping would move the gear and the thing would be a tooth off. Took me forever to figure it out. Finally jb welded the gear and it stopped doing it.

A Worn out dizzy is when most guy buy the Pertronix ignitor instead of replacing the dizzy. When the upper bushing is bad with a lot of side to side shaft play then this is the reason the gap of .030 max for the ignitor so it won't damaged the unit. If to bad the rotor & cap would become damaged .
But the advance or the springs can fail also..
