Alright I have a 96 f250 7.3L manual. I'm having a problem figuring out what is causing a check engine light to come on when I accelerate. Any ideas to what it may be and what could fix the problem?
Welcome to fte. No real way to know without the code. Parts store readers won't read our trucks either. What exactly is happening/wrong?
Its bogging down then takes off, with high rpm. I got a Po122 code to read once. It points to the PCM, IVS, water in the fuel, TBS or APP. I've replaced the sensor on the pedal. That didn't help. Any ideas?
Is that the only code showing up at this time? P0122 is an "Accelerator Pedal Sensor Circuit Low Input" code. Sounds like you replaced that sensor.
Does the tab on the pedal assembly completely depress the button on the sensor when you release the accelerator pedal? Do you hear the "click" as you begin pressing the accelerator pedal?
You can bend the tab so the slightest pedal movement activates/deactivates the sensor. Unless other codes are stored, I don't know what else to suggest.
Whatever device you're using to obtain the codes, does it also read live data? Can you set it up to read APS (aka TPS) voltage as you move the pedal from idle position to the floor? You can do this key on / engine off.
