I used the HiPo Parts kit in mine (Elite Series II, Factory Color) - they look great, but don't really dim as advertized (they dim a bit over the brightest end of the range, but go straight from off to about 2/3 brightness). Very good instructions included with the kit. Kit includes the LEDs for the instrument cluster, but not the other illumination, so I got a few extra "warm white" color bulbs to do the heater controls and lights/wipers illumination. A new lens for the instrument cluster made a world of difference too.
That looks good. I wanna keep them green as my plans are to have the interior black and green anyway just need them brighter...I drive a big rig so I'm used to being able to see all my dash lights really well. How much was the and extra bulbs all together if it's not too intrusive?
The kit I got was their highest end "Elite Series" kit, around $50. Then the extra bulbs were like $4 each, and I think I got two (one a bayonet base for the lights/wipers light, and one a 194 base for the heater controls). What's pictured is the "Factory Color" kit, which uses "warm white" bulbs (a bit of a yellowish color) with the factory blue plastic filters to get that turquoise color. The kit includes green LEDs for the turn signals and red ones for the brake warning light, etc. Had a couple extras for me, since mine has gauges rather than warning lights. You can see exact pricing on their website, at the link under the picture.
Plug and play - they have bases just like the light bulbs. You do have to pay attention to polarity (they won't work if installed backwards - they are diodes, after all). The + side is marked on the LED bulb by a stripe on the base, and they include a diagram of the back of the cluster that shows which side it should contact on the printed circuit. It's never a bad idea to test functionality before reassembling.
Does anyone happen to know the numbers for all the bulbs in the interior of our trucks?
I think I've managed to put them together, but wanting to double check before I start ordering replacement LEDs for everything.
Also, if I replace the courtesy lamp and dome light bulbs for LEDs, would I have to make any changes in the wiring of the supply to these lights, or should I be good with changing the bulbs? Just want to double check so I don't blow anything!
So the list that I've got so far is:
Instrument Cluster lights = 194
Lights/Wipers light = 1893LL
Glove Box light = 1893LL
Courtesy Light = 194 (I've recently changed my courtesy lights though, so mine is different I believe.
Dome Light = 561LL
Ashtray Light = 1893LL
If I'm wrong on any of these, please correct me so I can get it right and not make a pig's ear out of it!
"Why are you asking and not just checking on the bulbs?" I hear you cry! Because the PO didn't believe in replacing bulbs and so a ton were missing when I bought the truck, so now I'm doing the rounds, but figured I might as well go for some super sexy LEDs while I'm thinking on it!
