Any comments or opinions on this Autometer (#15003) two-gauge instrument cluster bezel for the Superduty? It looks like a good alternative to the typical pillar mounts or the over/under dash mounts, particularly for those of us without the need for the automatic transmission temperature gauge. It looks like the gauge on the left may cover some of the OEM idiot lights and maybe one of the OEM gauges in the instrument cluster.
Does anyone have any comments on the lighting on the different gauges available? I ask because the display on my Kenwood stereo is blindingly bright on dark nights. I don't want a repeat of this problem with the gauges, or cheezy, poorly lit gauges.
I would go with the "A" pillar triple mount and install a working oil pressure gauge, voltemeter, colant temp.....etc.......
If you tap into your dash light dimmer you can use it to control your brightness. Or you can install a potentiometer if you want to separate the dimmer control from your dash dimmer.
The color of the gauge backlight can be changed as well. I have seen different colored bulbs used for the gauges.
