The book says to replace the D-ring. Let me know where I
can find some then maybe I would. I have reused mine and
not had any problems that I was able to tell.
Also if you do happen to find some replacement make sure
to give the newly installed D-rings time to relax back into the
normal shape. I would also warm them up before working them
into place and relaxing back into shape.
I'm in the process of replacing injector #2 and have the updated dummy plugs.
Are the dummy plugs reuseable? Or should I put new ones in?
You have to ultimately make that decision. In the last 44,000 miles I had mine out 2 times on the passenger side. I inspect the rings and white teflon split ring and if all appears well I reinstall after lubing the rings with clean motor oil.
If you're just doing an injector there's no need to pull the dummy plug anyways. Just the rear oil feed has to come out to lift the oil rail.

Figured that out after I pulled the rail
It's not that I didn't know, I just forgot....
Long and short of it, two dependable and reputable sources suggested what you did and I reused the dummy plug and standpipe. Both were greased and installed nice and slow to keep the orings true.
Got the truck started around 1:00 am this morning and it sounds and runs much better!

That combined with the severe lack of sleep. Your wife reminds you of something she told you before, you give the deer in the headlights, "I'm pretending to know what you're talking about" look and that's that....
